Near Lake Tahoe, in both California and Nevada, there are many buildings dating to the Victorian Era. Virginia City was a mining town that became a boom town; then a ghost town. Eventually, a tourist town. Original buildings from the area have been refurbished and look amazing. this particular one and its environs are still inhabited.

I’m intrigued by historical architecture and most of my work contains part of a house, castle, cottage, cabin, barn or other structure. Many of my paintings have windows or doors, arches and pathways. These mean to me ‘adventure, surprise and levels of spirituality’. I’m fascinated by man’s use of natural substances such as, stone, brick, wood and often add these to my work as well.
