I saw these poppies at a friend's house. The gorgeous contrasting colors just wowed me. I knew I needed to paint my version of it. The light coming from the window added the cool transparency in the vase. It enabled me to add a myriad of colors besides just the actual shade of the vase. I started this painting after working on a very detailed, structurally complex piece (Dubrovnik Croatia, on my website). I needed something loose and free.
