Artist's Description

Piazza Navona is a 10 minute walk from the Spanish Steps and just across the main street (Vitorio Emanuel) from where we were staying in Campo de' Fiori Piazza, Rome, Italy. Originally the area of the plaza was an athletic stadium built in 86 AD. Medieval houses were built over it until the 15th century. Then Renaissance and Baroque transformed and replaced them. The current look of the plaza dates between 1600 -1700; virtually nothing has changed since then, which is probably what gives Navona so much of its charm.
We were in Rome the beginning of December and it was raining some. It didn’t stop us from sightseeing and it added some extra charm.

Featured in the Groups: Images Excite, Travel Art, semi-abstract, Best of the Best Wisconsin Wildflowers and Scenery

About Laurie Morgan

Laurie Morgan

LAURIE MORGAN - Commissions Welcomed “Painting became a true love after years in the entertainment field. I get a thrill rendering on canvas the sights I see in my travels around the world. I’m intrigued by historical architecture and most of my work contains part of a house, castle, cottage, cabin, barn or other structure. Many of my paintings have windows or doors, arches and pathways. These mean to me ‘adventure, surprise and levels of spirituality’. I’m fascinated by man’s use of natural substances such as, stone, brick, wood and often add these to my work as well. Equally I love flowers and gardens and try to include them wherever I can; often inspired by my own garden.” Laurie’s art has been exhibited at The Gallery...
