I began this on a plein air day at Rancho Camulos in Ventura County, California. I had captured the shapes and colors of the trees and plants I wanted in my painting and finished it up in the studio later on. The old Del Valle family land grant has changed hands a couple of times in the last two centuries. And now it is a heritage site.
